Media Analysis & Research Center is a non-profit platform of mediamates and communication experts. Registered under Indian Trust Act 1882 on March 25, 2008. RegNo.45/2008/BK IV. Part of NGO partnership program of Planning board, Govt. of India. Member, Indian Chamber of Non-Government Organizations (ICNGO), New Delhi.

Media literacy

We are living in a media driven society. Nobody can stand apart from the magical skin of media today. Everything related to our socio-cultural life is decided by the media. Thus it influences our economic state also. Our taste, interest, needs, belief, demands, even thoughts are drastically influenced by media. What we have to do is make aware our children that what we see, hear and read in media are not the real ones. Equip them to read media critically. Build up their efficiency in analysis and interpret. Nourish their ability in critical thinking. To satisfy the needs, MARC organizes media literacy campaigns. The campaign includes:

Ø  One day orientation program on influence of media on children

Ø  One day orientation program on elements of video production

Ø  Three day workshop on how to write for print

Ø  Three day workshop on elements of video production and script writing

Counseling

Adolescents of the day are in stress and strain. Changed perspectives on social life and status impose over load on their heads. The hearts and minds are filled with unnecessary fear and fury. Parents and teachers are unaware of the stand. Our aim is to heal the ailing minds through a gentle touch of words and activities. We organize:

Ø  One day orientation program on stress and strain for adolescents

Ø  One day orientation program for parents/teachers on adolescent behavior

Ø  One day seminar on career opportunities and educational options


Research and Documentation

MARC organizes independent research on various issues and themes. The research unit maintains a resource center. Major initiatives of our research unit are:

Ø  Repository of Local Environmental Initiatives and Historical Sketches

To enrich data base of MARC’s research resources. It is a journey to hear and measure the voices of the voiceless and make a place in history. It is project to enquire objectively, record systematically and make reports. Any interested person can be part of the venture by documenting environmental initiatives, related issues and life sketch of the activists.

Ø  Repository of Local Media Initiatives and Personality Sketches

To enrich data base of MARC’s research resources. It is a journey to hear and measure the local media initiatives and make a place in history. It is a project to enquire objectively, record systematically and make reports. Any interested person can be part of the venture by documenting media initiatives and life sketch of the media persons.

You as a donor will have a place in our library and research resource center. A donor’s contribution will be placed as her/his property in our research resource center. All future research references regarding your subject will acknowledge your generous gesture.

Publication

The publication unit produces various titles. We publish only authentic and innovative materials. Also we developed Teaching Learning Materials to support the educational needs and the academic community. Also we have a team of experts to develop Multi- media educational Packages.

Ø  Author  support scheme

Author Support Scheme is a unique scheme to support new writers and new creations. Novel ideas are promoted through this program. The program is an author-MARC participatory venture to publish innovative books. Being an academic community, we concentrate on publication of authentic books. Any author of an authentic book can send a hard copy and a soft copy of the book to the director. The MARC selection committee of will scrutinize the work. After the completion of the scrutiny, the author will be informed whether the book is accepted for publication or not.

Audio-Visual production

The audio-Visual production unit shapes and brings forth documentaries and programs. We also support different movements and agents by preparing scripts for various video formats.

Pedagogical Intervention

Academic team of MARC develops strategies and techniques to support media studies and other disciplines. Our academicians involve in developing curriculum, training modules, source book/hand book and self-learning packages. We serve various government and non-government agencies for this regard. We focus on strategies to motivate critical pedagogy. To enhance ICT enabled education, we have a team of resourceful teachers to prepare Instructional Designs. We act as consultants of educational technology. Also we support school media clubs designed by CIET of NCERT by providing academic inputs.

Online production

The blog www.mediamarx.blogspot.com   and www.mediafolk.wordpress.com are  initiatives of MARC to discuss media matters, culture, environment, education, folklore and gender issues. The blog tries to develop critical thinking on contemporary issues regarding the focal themes.

MINARAM

To explore and highlight indigenous know-hows and cultural life of minorities, MARC commenced a separate unit: Minority Abet for Resource Absorption and Management (MINARAM). The unit promotes cultural and educational needs of minority sections.
